Job Highlights
- Operate building HVAC equipment, including high pressure boilers, and all heating and ventilating equipment, assuring a properly-controlled climate at the satellite facilities
- Respond to emergency malfunction events, assesses situation, and takes action to stabilize situation to avoid further damage and make safe
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the hospital’s mechanical HVAC production and distribution systems, lighting, life safety systems and electric machinery
- Responsible for inspecting and maintaining all mechanical room systems and equipment; as on-call mechanic assignment, respond to all service calls
Candidate Profile
- High school or trade school diploma or equivalent with coursework in math, science, reading blueprints, and equipment schematics required
- Current City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License required
- Must have a minimum of two years of previous experience as a licensed stationary engineer engaged in the operation of high-pressure boilers
- Must have working knowledge of building and life safety codes in health care occupancies with specific knowledge of city boiler operating codes
