Eventually, Kamree aspires to return to school and become a pharmacist. Kamree shared more about her journey with Skills and her new position at Walgreens.
How are you liking your new job so far?
I honestly love it! This pharmacy technician role has definitely met my expectations; I know it’s what I want to be doing! A lot of my family is involved in health care, so I’m excited to go into the field. The pharmacy technician position is a stepping stone for me and my career. I hope to be a pharmacist, and I know I’ll learn a lot from this job.
How was your experience working with the Skills staff?
Everyone was great and helpful, but two people stood out— Cecily and Jay (managers at Skills). Cecily motivated me the entire time and taught me how to communicate with potential employers. Jay was on top of everything. They both helped me through interview training, workshops, and preparing for the role.
Bring me back to the moment when you were hired? How did it feel?
I felt like I wanted to cry! I was so proud of myself and glad that all my hard work paid off. I know this position will help me reach my full potential. I want to thank everyone again. I don’t take this opportunity lightly. For me, being a pharmacy technician isn’t just another job, it’s a job to a career pathway.
Would you recommend Skills to other job seekers?
Yes, absolutely! I’ve already been recommending it to others. 10 out of 10!
