Stephanie Finds What She Needs to Grow Her Career at Carelon

Stephanie M. was an experienced pharmaceutical sales representative with a vast array of knowledge that allowed her to excel in her career. When she found herself without employment, she had no idea it would be as difficult as it was to find another job.

Stephanie discovered Skills through her job search research, and when she found out that one of our goals is to help local job seekers who are having a difficult time finding work, she was immediately interested in learning more. So she reached out, applied for a Referral Specialist 1 position with Carelon Medical Benefits Management (Carelon), and was hired in November 2014. She has since been promoted and now works as an Account Service Manager.

We were thrilled to speak with Stephanie about her experiences working with Skills and Carelon.

How was your experience working with Skills?

It was a very good experience. Skills did a thorough job during the intake and hiring process. I remember coming into the office for a reading assessment, and everyone was really engaged and willing to help.

How has Skills and Carelon helped you grow in your career?

During a turbulent and high-stress time in my life, Skills did an excellent job of providing options. No matter where you are in your career path, they provide options and alternatives for which you may not have thought of but already had the skills for.

For Carelon, I appreciated being a part of a strategy for people who find themselves being out of the workforce for a long period of time and looking for work.

What opportunities has this job provided for you?

This job provides me stability; at the time, it was a good fit and exactly where I needed to be in my life. It is a steady position, the work is interesting, and I like the people I work with.

Would you recommend Skills to other job seekers?

Yes, I would recommend Skills. And I actually just told someone who is looking for work about Skills. For folks having difficulty finding what they’re looking for and don’t know why – could be your resume, hiring trends, etc. – Skills is a great organization to work with.
