Maria is Excited to be with a Company She Can Grow with Thanks to Her Hard Work and the Help of Skills

Maria built a breadth and depth of valuable experience in her career. Dependable and friendly, she had done well in customer service roles and as a pharmacy technician.  

She was ready for a role where she could grow professionally and help people at the same time. 

She applied for a role as a Customer Advocate at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois through Skills for Chicagoland’s Future and said that working with Skills, she felt supported and self-assured. 

“[Jacori] gave me the confidence that I needed. Having somebody say, ‘I know you can get it,’ ‘Try your best’... I really did appreciate it,” she shared. “It really helped because I had somebody I could count on and ask questions.” 

Maria was hired by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois as a Customer Advocate at their Blue Door Neighborhood Center in Pilsen, which is near her home. She was a great fit for this role due to her strong communication skills, familiarity with medical terminology, and friendly personality. 

In her role, Maria will have the opportunity to develop and grow. With Blue Cross’ support, she plans to further her education and is excited to excel and advance with the company!
